Stewart’s Automotive Opens US$7-Million GWM Showroom in Kingston

Kingston, Jamaica — Stewart’s Automotive Group has opened a new US$7-million showroom for Great Wall Motor (GWM) on South Camp Road, marking a significant investment in Jamaica’s automotive sector.

The 9,000-square-foot facility, officially named the Diana Stewart Building, was opened on June 3 and will serve as GWM’s flagship showroom in Jamaica. The space is designed to display up to eight vehicles at a time, including newly introduced models such as the Tank 400 and Tank 700 SUVs.

The investment reflects the company’s confidence in the local market and the future growth of Jamaica’s automotive industry. Company leadership emphasized that the development represents more than just a physical space, highlighting a long-term vision for expansion and innovation.

The showroom is expected to employ approximately 40 people, with potential for additional job creation as operations grow. It is also projected to contribute significantly to government revenue through taxes in the coming years.

Government officials have welcomed the investment, describing it as a strong signal of confidence in Jamaica’s economic stability and its attractiveness to international brands. The presence of a global automotive manufacturer reinforces the country’s position as a viable and growing market.

GWM has been expanding its footprint across the Caribbean, with Jamaica playing a key role in its regional strategy. Since entering the Jamaican market in 2021, the company has sold over 1,500 vehicles locally and has extended its reach to multiple territories across the region.

The opening event attracted a large audience and included the unveiling of new premium SUV models. The facility also incorporates a community element, featuring artwork created by local students inspired by the GWM vehicle line.

Overall, the new showroom represents a major milestone for both Stewart’s Automotive Group and GWM, supporting continued growth, job creation, and increased investment in Jamaica’s automotive landscape.
